A Galvanized Corpse

12″x16″, Acrylic and Gloss Polymers on Wood, December 2008

This painting is based on an 1836 newspaper illustration (click here for reference). It was really just done for fun after the original image struck me. Galvanism in this case is the electro-reanimation of a corpse, theorized after it was discovered that electrical impulses caused muscles to activate even after death. This is of course the inspiration for the Frankenstein story.
